This weekend was Curlfest in NYC and it was AMAZING. This is my third time attending and each year it gets better and better. This year it was help on Randall’s Island and was able to accommodate the record breaking crowds.
If you are unfamiliar with this festival, it is a day for black and brown women and men to come together and celebrate our blackity blackness in a safe, fun space. Even though it is called CURLfest, every hair type is welcomed! Whether you have natural kinky curly hair, dreads, chemically straightened hair, weaves/wigs, buzz cut or a clean bald head, this place is for you! There are panels, vendors galore, free swag, talks, food and much more!
I love attending to see the amazing sea of melanin magic and to capture it on camera! Here I will share some of my favorite hair styles, outfit looks, squad goals and much more. Please scroll through, take in all this magic and enjoy!
I originally was going to edit each and every photo but then I just LOVED how the sun acted as a gorgeous natural filter on these melanated souls so I decided to use nature’s filter alone. So here are the beauties and handsome men in their natural form:
