Hello beautiful people!
Today I want to review the ELEMIS Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash since I have worked it into my skincare routine over the last 2 month. This facial wash was gifted to me by Influenster many months ago but I have honestly wanted to try this brand for quite some time now. Even though this item was gifted to me, I am not being paid to talk about it and this review is my honest opinion. Now let’s dive right on into it!
I want to give you a quick back-story of my skin before I let you know what I feel about this product. I have extremely dry skin and have eczema. With this combination, I have to be particular about what I use on my skin, including my face.
The Elemis Dynamic resurfacing facial wash advertises itself as a skin smoothing cleanser with anti-ageing properties. So what do they mean by being a “resurfacing” cleanser? Excellent question and I have asked that myself! Apparently this product encourages our skin’s natural cell renewal cycle as it gently exfoliates the dead skin to rid us of a dull appearance. This product uses 3 enzymes (Subtilisine, Protease and Papain) along with their other ingredients to safely and effectively resurface the upper most layers of the skin on our face. Other active ingredients are Babassu and White Truffle. The Brazilian Babassu oil is rich in fatty acids and used to replenish our moisture levels (which I desperately need). The white truffle Poria Cocos is used to soothe the skin and work with the natural micro flora of our skin. All of this should result in a glowy, smooth brighter complexion. It is also recommended to use SPF when using this product and to not sunbathe or use tanning beds. It can be uses twice daily.
Ok… that was a mouthful. So did it work?
What I loved:
What I liked about this product is that is formula is super smooth. It is meant to gently exfoliate and it was not rough on my face at all. I have sensitive skin so some common exfoliating cleaners give me small scratches on my skin with repeated use. This was not one of those products! It went on and washed off very smoothly.
The scent of this cleanser is clean and barely noticeable. Products with fragrance usually give me breakouts so I tend to gravitate towards scent-less product. This smells like a very mild soap without any flagrance. It just gives me a clean feeling.
After a week or 2 my skin did appear smoother and soft. For full disclosure, I have also been drinking a lot more water and cutting down on my junk food so I am sure that has helped as well. But this product has helped with smoothness. I have not noticed the brightening effects yet but I also do not use this product daily. I work in into my usual routine by switching out my other facial cleansers a few days of the week so that may be why. I think I would notice it if I were to use it twice daily every single day. I will mention in the next section why I do not use it daily.
I love that is has anti-ageing properties. I am 29 and even though I think I still look young and fresh, I know that will not be the case forever. I also know that I do not get enough sleep in the week so that will aid in me looking older and tired. It is important to use anti-ageing products BEFORE we see signs of aging. It will help delay those signs so we should be using it even in our early and mid-twenties. I am a little late to that party.
What I don’t love:
Although it is a gentle cleanser, it is not a deep cleaning facial wash for me. I notice that after I remove my makeup with my usual wipes, then wash my face with this product, I still have a thin film over my face. If I use my nail to scratch an area, I can see residue of leftover makeup and products under my nails. I like for my skin to feel extra clean after a day of full faced makeup and this cleanser does not do that for me. This is the main reason it cannot be a daily cleanser for me. But most days I do not wear makeup so it is not a huge problem. I tend to use this product in the morning for a fresh feel and use my more cleansing facial soaps in the night to really wash away all of the day’s grime.
I have already mentioned that I have super dry skin and this product promises to increase my moisture levels. I can honestly say my face does not feel as dry as it does with other facial washes but I would not say it feels moisturized either. I know a soap will typically not hydrate someone with skin like me, but I was hoping to feel a bit more moisturizer after repeated use. This could also be due to the fact that I do not use it daily.
My overall Thoughts:
To sum this review up, I like this product! It may not deliver the deep clean that I sometimes need but I have other products for that. I like that it is gentle, anti-ageing, smoothing and will eventually (hopefully) make my complexion even clearer. I like that it does not irritate my skin when I am in the middle of an eczema flair-up and that I can use it daily without getting those annoying fine bumps or micro skin abrasions. It is overall a quality cleanser and I love the engineering behind it. Elemis used ingredients that address issues so many of us have on this journey to clear, beautiful skin. I would recommend this product, but not as your only facial cleansing option.
Have you tried this product or another item in this resurfacing line? Let me know your thoughts on them! Leave me a comment and we can discuss it.
Until next time!
With love,
