Hakan Akkaya, a Turkish designer, did not disappoint with his edgy and chic Spring/Summer 2018 collection debuted at NYFW. A few words to describe his show: Black, White, Silver, Bold, Edgy & Memorable.
His men’s and women’s designs were black and white with a sprinkling of silver, and provided an edgy touch to these classically timeless colors. He featured mesh, stripes, zebra print and solids, and did it in a striking way. The structure of the pieces draped the models well and flowed down the winding runway beautifully. His show was honestly the highlight of my Fashion Week.
“For Spring 2018, I mixed black and white geometric prints with soft pastel hues to create a collection full of edgy contrasts.”– Hakan Akkaya for InStyle
The makeup on the models were simple and clean. Their eye makeup were neutral colored and seemed to cast a bit of a shadow effect around the eyes, and the lips were kept a neutral nude color. Majority of the models had braids, some on half of the head and other a full head. A few wore their hair styled towards the face or left out in an effortless style. The diversity in the models were refreshing and beautiful.
Another Hakan Akkaya show is definitely a must-see for the upcoming New York Fashion Weeks. I am already looking forward to his future designs and takes on black and white.
