Hello from Day 3!
Today I had my first show at Skylight Clarkson Square, which is the main venue for New York Fashion Week Shows. Being in this area during this week was such an exciting and motivating feeling! Just seeing the many fashionistas and fashionistos as they walked towards the showroom is breathtaking. The creativity in their outfits were magical.
I started off the day sitting outside the venue watching the slayage that is known as Street Style and chatting it up with photographers who were also hanging around waiting to capture their best shots. After watching for a while, I joined the photogs with my Canon 77D and snagged some shots. Below are just a few of the many amazing outfits.
I then met up with my cousin, Kyle, for a mini shoot for myself. We got some decent shots since the streets were not yet crowded at that time, which was around noon. The meteorologist definitely was playing games with me because it was much warmer than I anticipated. Normally I would not mind the heat, but my look included a fitted leather jacket and booties, but of course I made it work!
My entire look was brought to you by my beloved Zara, from the earring to the booties.
After the shoot, I headed to the Hakan Akkaya show at 2pm. I walked into the showroom and it was better than I expected my first official NYFW show to be. I loved the seating arrangement, which wound around the room creating an intimate maze of seats for the models to walk along. I was able to see the looks at more than one angle and not be blocked by a lot of people in front of me. The winding seating had 3 rows so the obstructed view from in the back row was minimal. I had a spot in the middle row near the end of the seating bench so I had a clear view right over my left shoulder.
The looks were clean and sleek. I definitely liked the black and white theme of the pieces and the unique structure of the clothing. The show featured both men’s and women’s fashion. I truly enjoyed the pieces and would love to attend their shows in the future. I also was thoroughly pleased to see the diversity in the models in this show. It was beautiful! Make sure to catch the finale walk while you read more about my thoughts on this brand and their NYFW show here.
Afterwards I explored the booths and lounges in the showroom then made my way to the exit. I feel like today was the first day I truly felt the NYFW excitement and hype that I often hear and read about from other bloggers, PR girls, youtubers, etc.
I am looking forward to attending more shows at Skylight Clarkson for the upcoming New York Fashion Week seasons and hopefully another Hakan Akkaya show. In the meantime, stay tuned for my review of my final day of NYFW!
With Love,
CoCo
