Hey Friend
I hope your week is going well and you are feeling well!
Today I am coming back with yet another fashion post. I truly love Summer time for fashion. I know Fall is a popular fashion season but honey these Summer fashions are nothing to play with!

I am not ignoring the fact that this summer is unlike any other in our lifetimes, but I am grateful to still be here and still have things to bring me joy. As the country started to slowly open back up, and I started commuting to work again, I noticed that (surprise, surprise) I indeed did put on the “quarantine 15”. My cropped pants and midi dresses that I wore to work the previous Summer are a bit snug so I figured why not head to Target to update my wardrobe and find clothes I feel comfortable in. I of course picked up a few items that are not for work as well, because I need to look cute sitting in the park or grocery shopping as well 🙂
And to be honest, as I’ve been going to Target a few times to get my household essentials during the lock down period, I did wander off into the clothing section to see what they had. It was too convenient to get my toilet paper AND a floral dress all in one shot.
This is actual footage of me during one of my Target runs…in a dress from the previous Target run.
Abstract leaf print trapeze dress
This beautifully vibrant abstract floral dress was a must-have for a few reasons. The first being its versatility. Now that I am spending more time than ever inside my house, I NEED comfortable light-weight dresses that I can toss on and lounge in. This dress is just that: roomy and cozy. It is also so chic! I belted it and wore it on a day out with my parents to the Brooklyn bridge park in DUMBO. It was a very hot day out so it was perfect to walk and sweat in as I found a spot on the grass by the water to relax. It went from house dress to dressy by simply adding a belt. Perfection. And as if that wasn’t enough, it is also perfect for work! All I need to do is layer my green cotton tee (that I also got from Target) under it and now it is appropriate for the office. Once outside is safe again, this dress will definitely be worn on the days I need to go from work chic to afterwork happy hour ready in the blink of an eye.
I also share some amazing dresses from Target in my YouTube video: Black owned brands clothing haul. And don’t forget to Subscribe if you want to see more 🙂
Cow print layered ruffle skirt
Right before everything started closing down in New York, I bought this beautiful tiered ruffle skirt from Who What Wear and had so many ideas for it! I would wear it to work with a basic black or white tee if I want to look fancy, then throw on a body hugging bodysuit for evenings out. I also plan to pair it with snug fitted turtleneck tops in the fall and black booties. This skirt has endless possibilities really! Cow print is really turning into a favorite animal print for me. It’s classic like polka dots but with a bit more umph. Do you agree?

Culotte jumpsuit
In April, I picked up this peachy khaki jumpsuit from the clearance rack and love wearing it to work layered with a white tee. But when I am just hanging out or running errands, I like it without the layering (as shown above). I plan to layer sweaters underneath in the fall and throw on my favorite boots. I LOVE a cropped wide leg pant + boot combo.
This jumpsuit is out of stock on the website (though some may still be available in stores) so I’ve linked some similar jumpsuits at Target, in both straight and plus sizes:
Lined slip midi skirt
I also picked up this versatile skirt from Target, around the same time, with work in mind. It pairs so well with the green tee shown in the photo, which is also from Target, and with so many others. Pink and green is always a good combo, and so is blue + pink, white + pink, red + pink and so on. So this skirt will pair perfectly with many tees and tops in my closet. I am to grab pieces I can easily style at LEAST 3 different ways with items I already have. I helps cut down the need to purchase too many items and lets me get the best cost-per-wear of each item. I’m all about fashion but I’m also all about saving money honey.
Below I have a few other items that I have my eye on for work (and for play):
Let me know if you get any of these pieces and I would love to see them on your Instagram! Follow me & tag me in your #TargetStyle fashions.
Until next time!
With love,
